Design Specifications

Blog Post Title: Design Specifications
Use PowerPoint slide, write 6 design specifications for the solution used to solve the chosen challenge.
Design Specifications are the requirements of a product that must be fulfilled/met.
Example:
1. The product must be ergonomic.
2. The product must blend well with its environment.

Save the slide as jpeg and upload to the blog.

Chosen Situation & Design Brief

Look through all the challenges of the Elderly identified in blog post one (Challenges of the Elderly) and blog post two (PIES approach).
Discuss and make a decision on a challenge to solve.
Write a Design Brief. Start the Design Brief with : To design and make.....for the elderly to....

PIES Approach

Share with your group members, the challenges of the elderly indentified usign PIES approach.
Create a PowerPoint Slide entitled: PIES approach.
Second Slide: Physical Needs + Authentic Situations
Third Slides: Intellecutal Needs + Authentic Situations
Fourth Slide: Emotional Needs + Authentic Situations
Fifth Slide: Social Needs + Authentic Situations

Save the file titled: PIES approach.
After saving, Click Save as
Change the "Save as type" from PowerPoint Presentation to Jpeg File Interchange Format.
Upload pictures to PICASA and create a new blog post titled: PIES approach.

Identifying Challenges of the the Elderly

Task Title: Challenges of the Elderly
Purpose: The main purpose of this task is to enable the students to identify challenges of the elderly, based on some observation of activites happening at a place.

Complete this task on your Blog.1. Research and find 3 Pictures of PLACES. Upload the pictures onto PICASA.
2. Write the 3 ACTIVITIES at the place.
3. Imagine that activities is carried out by the elderly, will it pose as a CHALLENGE? Write down the DIFFICULTIES/CHALLENGES faced by the elderly.

Example:

Activities: Ordering of food, Eating, carrying of food on tray
Challenges:
1. The elderly may not be able to see the wording on the menu.
2. The elderly may have problem calculating the amount to pay for the food.
3. After eating, the elderly may have some problem standing up.
4. The elderly may not have enough strength to carry the food on the tray as it can be quite heavy.
